"Local History" (also published as "Town of Hunter Tidbits") is a weekly history column written by Dede Terns-Thorpe, the official Town of Hunter Historian. The column chronicles the deep corporate, social, and industrial evolution of New York's "Mountain Top" region.

Dede was appointed historian in 2012 and oversees historical preservation for the Town of Hunter, which includes the villages of Hunter and Tannersville. Though spending her earliest years in New York City, her family lineage in the Catskills spans multiple generations. She compiled many of her individual columns into the regional history book, Tidbits of the Town of Hunter.
